Melissa Kipp Clark, Au.D, FAAA is the owner and founder of Suncoast Hearing Services Plus. Dr. Clark has been practicing in the field of hearing and audiology for over 30 years in Virginia, Maryland and Florida. She is Board Certified by the American Board of Audiology and has a diverse background in Hearing and Aging Studies.
 
Dr. Clark has earned a Doctorate Degree in Audiology, Masters Degrees in Gerontology, Audiology and Deaf Education as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education. She began her education at James Madison University in Virginia completing her Bachelor’s and first Master’s Degree in Deaf Education. In 1986, she returned to James Madison to obtain her second Master’s degree in Audiology. She completed all the requirements and ASHA hours to be an Audiologist in Virginia in 1992. In 1998, the Clinical Doctorate Degree was established and in 2001 Dr. Clark completed her Doctorate degree (Au.D) at the Arizona School of Health Sciences, a division of the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine.
 
After completing her Doctorate in Audiology, Dr. Clark recognized the need for further understanding of the older population and began taking classes at the University of South Florida (USF) in Tampa, Florida. After receiving an Advanced Certificate in Geriatric Social Work and Clinical Gerontology, Dr. Clark then pursued her Master’s Degree in Gerontology at the University of South Florida (USF). In 2009, Dr. Clark graduated with a Master’s Degree in Gerontology from the University of South Florida.
 
Dr. Clark presented to the University of South Florida, Summer Geriatric Institute, in 2004, Dr. Clark taught in the Audiology Doctoral program at Gallaudet University in Washington, DC. and presented at the National meeting of the Hearing Loss Association of America in June 2006.
 
She has worked with the Alzheimer’s Association on Advocacy in the state of Florida as well as at the National level. Dr. Clark was an advocate for Audiologists in the state of Maryland as President of the Maryland Academy of Audiology. Her professional affiliations are the American Academy of Audiology (AAA), American Board of Audiology (ABA), Florida Academy of Audiology (FLAAA), Florida Association of Professional Guardians, and the National Association of Professional Gerontologists.
 
Dr. Clark treats all her patients with patience, understanding, caring and support. She believes in listening and empowering her patients though understanding of their hearing, and the choices that will be beneficial regarding their hearing healthcare needs.
 
Dr. Clark herself has a hearing loss and because of her own experience wearing hearing aids, she is able to relate to patients and their experiences from her own personal perspective.
